I’m inspiring – Part II

Hi there, folks!  How’s it going?  I hope you’re all keeping warm.  Iowa is currently back in the deep freeze after a lovely thaw.  I have to admit, that week of 40-degree days was lovely.  I really do live in the wrong state when it comes to winter.

But that’s not what I meant to write about tonight.  In the space of a couple hours earlier today, I was nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award twice!  I was nominated for this award back in August and if you’d like to see what I had to say then, you can find the post here.  I’ve spent the last hour or so trying to decide if I should do it again, but since two people were nice enough to nominate me, I decided, what the heck?  Why not?

VeryInspiringBlogAwardSo, without further ado, many thanks to the lovely Tricia Drammeh and Maegan Provan, who were kind enough to nominate me.  Tricia is a wonderful writer and it is a privilege to know her – if you’re not already following her, you should be!  And Maegan is a new follower here, one I’m sure I will enjoy getting to know.  Thank you for the love, ladies!

Da Rules:

  1. Display the award logo on your blog.
  2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  3. State seven things about yourself.
  4. Nominate fifteen bloggers for this award and link to them.
  5. Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.

Seven Things:

  1. I just finished reading Defending Jacob by William Landay.  It is an excellent book and I have every intention of writing a review post sometime this week because I just can’t get it out of my head.  I have a book hangover.
  2. I am addicted to Pinterest.  I don’t get on it as much as I do Facebook or Twitter, but when I do, I’m there for hours.  I finally see what all the fuss is about.
  3. I love my family.  I mean I really love my family.  After reading Defending Jacob, I just want to hug my kids and Seymour and never let any of them go.  If you’re new here, my family includes four crazy kids, ages one, two, nine, and ten.  They might drive me insane, but I wouldn’t have ’em any other way.
  4. I’m part of a book club, but have never attended a meeting.  I’m actually embarrassed to admit that, but there are a couple of mitigating circumstances.  I know, I know, it sounds totally lame, but I missed the first meeting, which was in November, because we had something holiday-related going on.  I missed December’s meeting for the same reason.  I was all excited for this month’s meeting because not only did I finally manage to get the book and even get it read in time for the meeting, but I was actually going to be able to go…and then Seymour was late getting home from work, so I still missed the meeting. *sigh*  Here’s hoping it works out for next month, although at the rate I’m going, I think I’ll have to host the darn thing before I make it to one.
  5. I deal with migraines on a frequent and regular basis.  People have stopped asking if I have a headache; instead they ask me how my headache is.  Migraines are the devil and I hate them.  (And yes, I have one right now.  I’ve had it for three days and I’m to the point where light, sound, and turning my head hurt.)
  6. Despite all the lovely snuggly blankets and sweaters and comfort food (because comfort food, for me, involves things like tuna casserole and potato soup), I loathe winter.  I am sick to the teeth of this endless dragging cold and am more than ready for a little fun in the sun.
  7. I am apparently incapable of finishing a blog post in one sitting.  This is the third time I’ve sat down to work on this darn thing.  Evidently the third time’s the charm.  That’s not always the case, but sometimes, well – life happens.

The Nominees

I know I’m supposed to nominate fifteen people (Since I was nominated twice, does that mean I’m supposed to nominate thirty people?), but since I’m short on time and this post is already long, I think I’m going to bend the rules a bit and nominate two people.  First off, I’d like to nominate Kina Diaz DeLeon, a Human in Recovery.  If you haven’t already checked out her fabulous blog, you should.  Secondly, I’d like to nominate Emily McKeon, author of the children’s book Who Will Dance With Me?, among other things.  Again, if you haven’t checked out her wonderful blog, you should.

And now, I know a certain Tomcat who needs some cuddle time.  And somewhere, the strains of Jerry Goldsmith’s theme from Star Trek: Voyager are beckoning like the pheromones of Arachnia, Queen of the Spider People.  Which is kind of funny, because now I’m listening to a suite from the episode “Bride of Chaotica!”

Okay, time to get my Star Trek fix for the night.  See y’all later!

    Congratulations!!
It’s a shame you keep missing book club, I’ve been going to ours since it started 5 years ago and hate to miss one meeting (not that I always manage to read the books!) We always meet at the same house because our hosts have children and couldn’t both make it if we met anywhere else! 😀

I was in a book club five years ago and really enjoyed going, so I’m really disappointed that I haven’t managed to make it to a meeting yet. I was really hoping to go this past weekend. Normally Seymour is home a little earlier on Saturday nights and it wouldn’t have been a problem, but not this past weekend. *sigh*

I think my New Year’s Resolution just became making it to book club. 😀

Sorry about your headaches. 😦 I have been getting headaches due to trying to get used to new contacts, and it’s the worst! When there’s no end in sight, that’s truly awful.

Congrats on the blogger award! And hey, good intentions are worth something– I’m sure you’ll get to one of those meetings soon!

I think some of my trouble lately has been work related – lots of head-hanging and computer stress. I’ve been working on a big project that has had me tense from computer work, but I’m nearing the end, so hopefully the headaches will stop soon. And of course, girl stuff doesn’t help.

Thanks! I can’t wait to get to one of those meetings – it would help if they were actually in Reinbeck, but so far they’ve all been in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area, so factoring in commute tie is a bit of a pain. But one day I’ll get there. Maybe even next month! 🙂

I feel so bad. I *just* saw this post. Thank you so much for the mention. ❤

One of these days we need to meet up so we can talk face-to-face. 😉 And I totally hear you on the 'finishing a blog post in one sitting.' I get distracted by small children constantly. I'm lucky if my posts make any sense half the time.
