I have an extensive list of books that I would like to read and it seems that my list grows longer every day. But since I’m keeping track of which books I’ve read through the course of the year, perhaps if I keep track of which books I’d like to read, I might stand a chance of reading a few more of those desired titles.
So, without further ado, here are some of the books I’d like to read this year:
- Heidi by Johanna Spyri
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Time Enough for Drums by Ann Rinaldi
- Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
- Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg
- The Love Affairs of Nathaniel P. by Adelle Waldman
There are undoubtedly more, but it’s getting late and these were all I could think of. But I think I’ll keep adding to my little list so that I can keep better track of how I’m doing with my To-Be-Read list.

Wuthering Heights is on my list for the Classics Club and I LOVE P&P (today is the 200th anniversary!)

Ooo, Classics Club? I’ll have to check that out – I love classic literature. And I saw that today was the 200th anniversary of P&P. I wanted to celebrate by watching the 2005 movie (only because it’s shorter than the Colin Firth version), but I couldn’t convince my husband and sons to give up the TV for a couple of hours. *sigh* Men just don’t understand these things. 😀

I adore Pride and Prejudice. Actually, I adore everything by Jane Austen, but that one is one of my favorites. I haven’t yet read Wuthering Heights, but it’s been on my to-read list for over a decade now and it’s high time I knock it off my list. 😀

You definitely need to then! It is wonderful! Oh, and I forgot to mention that today is the 200th anniversary of Pride and Prejudiced, so if you’re feeling celebratory it’s definitely a good time.

I saw that this morning! I wanted to celebrate by watching one of the movies tonight, but alas, my TV was otherwise occupied all night long. Oh, well – there’s always this weekend. 😀

I’m into treble figures and I’d have to live an awful long time to get through them all. the problem is, if I can read, I’m usually writing.

Me, too. That’s exactly why I haven’t read much in the last year or so. I really need to do better with that, but I just feel compelled to write lately and I haven’t been making the time for reading that I should. I hadn’t realized how much I truly, deeply missed it till I sat down with Defending Jacob and was swept away by the story and the prose and damn, now I want to go read another book instead of editing and writing my own! 🙂 *sigh*

In lots of good will. I appreciate that it won’t pay any bills, however.

I tried playing the lotto to pay my bills. Good thing I didn’t hold my breath.

They’re just about to double the price of the lotto over here. A big mistake I think when everybody stops buying the tickets.

They doubled the price here over the summer. Of course, the price was only $1.00 to start with, but still, when you know you’re not going to win because your chances of getting struck by lightning twice in the same spot are better, a price increase sucks.

It’s only 14.7 million to one. Pretty good odds, really. Not!!

I keep adding books to my Kindle and buying up great titles from thrift stores that I don’t get around to reading because of the lack on time on my end.

I have the same problem! I’ve been meaning to reread The Great Gatsby for years. I read it in high school and didn’t like it, but it was assigned, so I didn’t have a choice. I wondered if I might like it better now I’m older, so I picked up a copy at a used book sale a few years back, but it’s been languishing on my bookshelf ever since. Imagine my surprise when it showed up on my book club’s reading list for the month of April! I plan to start reading it tonight; I hope I’ll like it better the second time around than I did the first. 🙂

What a great idea to keep a list. That way, you’ll have more chance of getting to read the books you want. From the UBC.

I’ve been meaning to read Wuthering Heights for the last twelve years. I managed to see the movie with Timothy Dalton a couple of years ago on TCM, but so far, that’s as far as I’ve gotten. I bought the book in paperback and audio versions, but I have yet to read it. I thought maybe sticking this to the top of my blog would help with motivation, but so far, that hasn’t been the case. *sigh*
Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you liked my list idea. I only wish I’d thought of this sooner – it would be nice to have a list of all the books I’ve read over the years. 😀

Thanks! I still haven’t managed to read any of them yet, but I still have six or seven months, right, so it’s still totally doable, right? 😀
