I’ve been fighting a sinus infection, an ear infection, and recovering from back-to-back Christmas parties with a cookie walk thrown in for good measure. I baked 23 dozen Christmas cookies in a span of 24 hours. I hope to be back to my normal self (both blogging and otherwise) soon, thanks to massive antibiotics (seriously, the things are horse pills!) and a(nother) good night’s sleep. Until then, please to enjoy these delicious virtual cookies:
Mmm, delicious sugar cookies…om nom nom!

Excuse the bleating of an english peasant, but, what’s a cookie walk?
Does one take a cookie for a walk?

Well, I wasn’t exactly sure, either, till I went to the kids’ cookie walk on Saturday. Apparently, people bake a whole bunch of cookies and then you set them out on a nice table. You get a box and go through the line picking out which cookies you want, and then you pay by the pound. The kids got to go through before people started arriving and pick out the cookies they wanted, so that was nice.
A bunch of churches around here do cookie walks as a fundraiser. I had to bake seven dozen cookies earlier this month for my church’s cookie walk. The one on Saturday was for the kids’ 4-H club, and each member was supposed to bring ten dozen cookies. Since we have two kids who are members, that meant 20 dozen cookies. I also promised a dozen to a friend, and I ended up with two dozen extra, so I kept half and gave the rest to my in-laws. I was a baking fool last week.
And then what did I do today? I told my coworker I’d bring cookies on Monday for the office Christmas party. Apparently I haven’t yet had my fill of floury fun.

You’re a glutton for punishment. I couldn’t go to the office party as I was working. This is probably the first and last time I’ll complain. There were a few hangovers and red faces the next day. So glad I couldn’t make it.

Tell me about it.
This is actually our second office party; we always do something fun with spouses early in December – this year it was supper and a play, but we’ve seen concerts other years – and then we close early and do something at the office the last day we’re open before Christmas. Usually we’re open on Christmas Eve Day, but not this year, so we’re doing our office party on Monday. It’s a nice way to wind things down before the holiday, especially when the holiday results in an extra-long weekend. 🙂

My office doesn’t shut for a moment right across Christmas, but I have begun my hols and will think no more about it for two weeks.

No time off for Christmas? How awful. My office closed today and tomorrow, which worked out great for me as I still had one more gift to make. According to the status bar, it’s 62% complete, so I might even get to wrap it before my in-laws get here. 🙂

The office doesn’t shut down but I began my holidays this morning. Ten days of binging – can’t wait.

Wooo! I think I’m still in my turkey coma from yesterday. Maybe it’ll wear off before I have to head out to another family Christmas on Sunday.

After successfully losing over thirty five pounds this year, I think I’ve regained them in the last week.

Sounds familiar. I somehow managed to maintain, which made me pretty excited.
Perhaps after next week’s visit to the hospital, I’ll be a little lighter. 😉

No, it’s back to starvation for me next week.

I’m back on my soup diet today. Maybe a little something for breakfast, a bowl of soup for dinner, and a good supper. Of course, the soup is usually chili with sour cream, because it’s hot and the warmth usually lasts me the walk back to my office. 🙂

As for me I only ate half a chocolate log tonight. Now there’s self control.

Indeed! I snacked on miniature Nestle Crunch bars all day. I don’t care. If chocolate is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
