Photo 365 #104: Moment

Life is but a series of moments.  Each day I find myself recording moments for posterity, though sometimes my recordings are strictly internal (which means they usually disappear within 24 hours, as my memory is terrible).  Still, those little moments are what make life worth living, are they not?

These two images are from the first night we spent in our new house.  We had no furniture, other than a collapsible picnic table and an air mattress.  What we did have were great friends and happy kids, and we made a boatload of memories that night.  We’ve made more memories in our new house in the year since these pictures were taken, and the thought of all the memories we’ve yet to make thrills me to pieces.

Lovely post; such precious memories. In our house photographs are the memories for those fleeting everyday things that we’d have forgotten by now with the constant treadmill of life and change with a little one about. And lots and lots of little video clips! :o)

Before we moved, we had a picture wall in our office. The place before that, we had one upstairs in the hallway. We haven’t yet unpacked all of our pictures, even though we’ve been moved in for six months, but when we do, we’re planning a couple walls. Some are posed shots, but others are random candids, like one of Miss Tadpole biting into an ear of corn. They might seem silly at first glance, but they’re things we’d have forgotten otherwise, like you said.

I know exactly what you mean, Kay. Those candids are fast becoming my favourites. Like yours with the corn, I shared one of our little girl in a post earlier this week. Not a momentous occasion, but a strong memory nonetheless. Hope you get your picture walls back up soon – to me that is the bit that makes it feel most like home.

I think those are the best moments. Even if there’s nothing special going on – it’s just you and the kids – you can still make a boatload of great memories. I always say that it’s the little things in life that are really important because they add up to big things. Those little moments are just as important as the big ones, and the big ones always seem to pass so quickly that I find them harder to remember than little things, like Cricket saying grace before supper the other night all by himself for the first time. 🙂
