I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I started my photo-a-day project! I can’t believe it’s over, either. As I mentioned before, I won’t be blogging every day for a while, and the thought of that seems weird. I’ve gotten used to posting every day. There are some days where my blog post was the only writing I did. I recorded a lot with my camera this past year, but I recorded a lot with my words, too, and so today I’d like to share a picture that I think encompasses what I hoped to do with this project:
See, it was all about memories.
I have a terrible memory of late, and I know I’ve captured memories with my camera that might otherwise have been lost in the mists of time. I’ve taken way more than 365 pictures in the last 365 days. Heck, I took over 100 last Saturday alone, and there were an awful lot of days like it in the last year. This particular image is a great memory; we spent the morning picking up apples as a family (and we filled this bucket two more times before we were done). We spent time with the kids, we spent time with the cats, and we made memories. We talked about the past, we planned for the future, and we enjoyed the present.
If that’s not a wonderful thing to remember, then I don’t know what is.
Maybe I’ll do this again next year. Or maybe I won’t wait a whole year; maybe I’ll start again with the new year. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my photos as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing them, and I hope you’ll enjoy this poem about memories, too. Maybe it’ll remind you of your own youth, the way my children remind me of mine:
The air hangs heavy
And sweet around me, filled with
Bird song and children’s
Laughter and the joy
Of summer’s simplicity
On a lovely night.

Well done on the 365! A shame (for us) it wasn’t a leap year!

Lol! Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed them. And don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of pictures to share yet. My camera, like my pencil and paper, goes with me everywhere! 🙂
