I’m still feeling a bit zombified today, so here’s another picture of that gorgeous sunset from a couple nights ago:

Hope you’re having a grand weekend! 🙂

In desperate need of some decongestant, I made a trip to town this morning, and this was the sight that greeted me:

The sun on the snow was so bright that my head throbbed all the way there and back, but it was worth it to get it on film (so to speak). What a beautiful day!

Hard to believe this little tractor-lovin’ dude is so grown up.

Also? I can’t believe this picture is ten years old.
Don’t forget to stop by and check out Charnele’s post!

There was another absolutely gorgeous sunset last night, and I was lucky enough to get a few pictures of it:

Almost made getting stuck in the driveway worth it. (Okay, not really, but I’m trying to find a bright side to getting stuck in a barely-drifted driveway.)
Happy Friday, everybody! 🙂

This pretty much sums up how I’m feeling right now. This cold is still kicking my butt, but in the last twenty-four hours, I’ve managed to finish that story for Miss Tadpole (and she liked it so much, she took it to school to show off), fix a bunch of track changes issues in stories I’d submitted for an anthology (and learned how to use track changes correctly in the process), start reviewing a short story for someone (Oh, hello, track changes, how are you today?), and process two tax returns at work.
*scarfs chocolate miraculously left over from yesterday*
Of course, these are quite fitting for today’s mental state as well:
Our local coffee shop has the best décor. Of course, I probably only think that because it happens to be true.
On second thought, no I don’t. It’s awesome regardless of its truth.
*passes out*

Today I’m happy to have a poem by the lovely Tokoni O. Uti, a fellow poet from just across the way:

And here’s Tokoni to tell us a little more about herself:
I am a Nigerian Student and Poet. I grew up in Lagos and began writing when I was 11. I am currently a student at Bowen University, Iwo, Nigeria. I have been published on the Huffington Post, San Diego Free Press, S Magazine, Op-Ed News, Space Bar Magazine, The Brooklyn Reader, Collective Lifestyle Media and the Portsmouth Daily Times.
You can find more of her great poetry and other things over on her blog, Beautiful Insanity. Stop by and look around, yeah? She’s got some neat things on display.

I bought myself a treat last night in anticipation of reaching my short story goal for the week. I’m proud to announce that I met said goal this noon and have now done the requisite polishing. Woo!
Needless to say, I’ve been enjoying my treat. Because after all, what writer doesn’t love chocolate? Especially when it’s as good as this!
How do you treat yourself when you reach a goal?

Some of my new pencils and my current WIP, an experiment in narrative poetry commissioned by Miss Tadpole:

I’m having a lot of fun with this project, though I suspect I’d be having more fun if I didn’t feel like my head was stuffed with cotton balls. Go away, cold! No one wants you!
Now, where did I put that VapoRub?

Had to go up to Rochester today for a follow-up appointment. Along the way, we passed a store that was going out of business and had everything marked way, way down. We stopped to check things out on the way home, and among other things, I found this:

It’s a Bluetooth speaker. Now I can listen to Pandora on my phone with better sound quality! Yay! 😀
I also got four new Pentel Quicker Clicker mechanical pencils for 60% off. I am all set for a while now. At the rate I’ve gone through these pencils, I shouldn’t have to buy another one for a couple of decades at least. 😀

Last night we had our first major snow storm in a while.

We were supposed to get five to nine inches, but from the looks of things, we got less than half that. Still, the wind has been wicked. I hate to think what the drifts are like out there.
But it’s okay – this has been the perfect weekend for snuggling up under a blanket with a good book and a cup of tea. 🙂
