Time to start inching toward the door…

I’ve seen this around before, but it’s so very, very true:

Its humor lies in its truth. Because we’ll get ready to leave a family function and twenty minutes later, we’ll be lucky to have reached the door. 🙂

Is it the same where you live?

On the verge

I ran across this on Facebook the other night, and I really liked it, so I wanted to share:

To me this says that I need to dig deeper. Be fearless. Hold things up to the light for examination, and see if maybe someone else has something similar in their own story. And by story, I don’t mean the story they’re writing. I mean their own personal story, the story they tell themselves about who they are and where they fit in the world. Because after all, isn’t that why we write? To find others whose weirdness matches our own?

Cool things about adulting

And now, some cool things about adulting!

Wait a minute – what happened to the part where I can do whatever I want? You know, like curling up in a blanket fort with some crayons and a unicorn horn? Why isn’t that on the list?

Can I be five again? Pretty please?

Why, Mr. Collins, I hardly recognized you!

So the other night Seymour and I checked out Bohemian Rhapsody in all its royal majesty, and I spent most of the movie trying to figure out who played Mr. Beach, the band’s lawyer. It finally hit me as we were watching the credits that it was Tom Hollander, aka Mr. Collins from the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice!

Now I know what’s next on my to-be-watched list. How about you?

Recalculating…

I kinda miss the novelty of Mapquest directions, but I don’t miss how they were often horribly wrong, and getting turn by turn directions without having to look down at a crumpled piece of paper is ridiculously convenient:

I once tried to Mapquest a route to Des Moines for some reason or another, and the directions Mapquest provided had me turning the wrong way down a one-way street. If I had been unfamiliar with the area, that could have ended badly.

What about Second Halloween?

Okay, so I know Halloween was a while ago, but I saw this on Facebook the other day and almost snorted milk out of my nose:

And now I want breakfast, followed by second breakfast, elevensies, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper, and accompanied by a metabolism fast enough to handle it all. 😀
