So today was crazy!  I had my first book signing at Smith’s General Store in the morning, and it was a lot of fun.  I only sold three books (five if you count the two I sold on Wednesday), but it was still a lot of fun.  And we’re talking about doing another one in November during the town’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, where hopefully I’ll do even better.

When I’m not busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I’m still hard at work on The Lokana Chronicles and, as writing has been on my mind quite a lot lately, today’s photo features a progress update:

Do you leave notes for yourself in the margins of your WIPs?  I do it all the time – if I didn’t, I’d forget everything that crossed my mind while writing. *sigh*

In other news, I’m going to be doing my first book signing next week, and I’m kind of excited about it.  If you’re heading out to the Tama County Fair on Thursday the 16th, stop on over to Smith’s General Store and say hi!  I’ll be there from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., signing books and chatting with anyone who wanders in.  I’m planning a giveaway for those who subscribe to my mailing list (see the link in my sidebar – no spam, I promise!), and I know it’s going to be a ton of fun.

A metric ton, even. 🙂

Also, congratulations to Piper McDermott, the lucky winner of e-book copies of Tuesday Daydreams and A Song for All Seasons!

Yep, today is all about books.  My books, friends’ books, ALL THE BOOKS! 😀

Today is launch day for A.F.E. Smith’s fantastic book, Darkhaven.  She’s having a heck of a great party over on Facebook, where she’s been interviewing authors (including me!) and giving away books all day.  The fun continues tomorrow, so be sure to check it out.

Books!

Books!

In other news, my books arrived today!  After running some errands this morning, we arrived home to a big ol’ box o’ books waiting for us on the front porch.  Since I wasn’t expecting them for another whole week, this was a great surprise.  I’ve already donated a couple to my local library, and I have one place lined up to sell books locally.  It’s been a pretty exciting day. 🙂

And if you want to win an e-copy for your very own, check out my giveaway over on Facebook!  There’s still time to enter, and there are a bunch of other great giveaways so sign up for there as well.

Have a fantastic Thursday, everybody!

If you haven’t heard of it already, Authors to Watch is a fantastic blog run by the lovely and talented Tricia Drammeh. She features author interviews, book recommendations, and all sorts of other writerly awesomeness. And today she’s featuring me!

We talk about poetry, writing, and inspirations, and I’d love it if you’d head on over and check it out. But don’t just read my interview – check out the others as well! Tricia’s interviewed loads of brilliant authors, and I’m sure she – and they – would love it if you stopped by. Who knows? You might find a new favorite book or a new favorite author! 🙂

Last night, the sun set on my thirtieth year.  And what a glorious sunset it was!

See?  Toldja it was pretty. 🙂

It’s been a great birthday today, even if it has left me thinking a lot about my mom.  I’m now the same age she was when she died (or at least I will be come August), and it’s got me thoughtful.  Luckily, I’ve got some great friends who’ve done a fantastic job of keeping my spirits high today, and I want to share the happy with you all.

So!  I’m running a special on Tuesday Daydreams.  From now through Monday, you can pick up a copy (if you don’t have one already) for $1.50 (regular price is $2.99).  Just go to Smashwords and enter coupon code FE67Z at checkout.  You can also pick up a copy at Amazon.

I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday.  See ya back here tomorrow! 🙂

Authors to Watch features Tuesday Daydreams!

TDSWAuthors to Watch is a great blog run by my good friend Tricia Drammeh that features books and authors of all stripes. Today, she featured Tuesday Daydreams: A Journal in Verse!  You can check out her post here.

But she’s not the only one who’s been talking about Tuesday Daydreams lately – Joleene Naylor and DM Yates have, as well.  Joleene’s post is here and Donna’s is here.

All three of these ladies are talented authors in their own right and you should be sure to check out their books as well as mine.  Tricia’s books include the Spellbringers series and Better Than Perfect, among others.  Joleene writes the Amaranthine books, where vampires and glitter don’t mix.  DM Yates writes fantasy novels and poetry, and you can find out more about her books here.

Make sure to spread the love, and check out all of these wonderful books today!

I bought chocolate and coffee this morning because I can’t think of a better way to spend my royalty check (thanks, Amazon!).

Well, perhaps I can.  After all, there are always more books that need buying and more pop that needs drinking. 🙂

Tuesday Daydreams now on Smashwords!

TDSWAt long last (seriously, it’s taken a while), I’ve made Tuesday Daydreams: A Journal in Verse available on Smashwords.  You can now read all my silly little poems in a variety of formats!

I don’t know why it took me so long to get around to this – I intended to do it shortly after initial publication two and a half years ago, but I never did.  It was pretty simple, for the most part.  And now I know what I need to do to get the follow-up volume ready to go!

With the Smashwords edition comes a new cover.  I’m not sure I like it yet, but it’ll do for now, I suppose.  I’ve added the new cover to the Kindle version as well, but it may not be live till tomorrow.  As for the paperback…it’s sticking with the old cover for now.

So!  If you’d like to get your hands on a copy, check out Amazon and Smashwords!
