Photo Friday scouting throwback

I was a proud Girl Scout when I was little, and so were pretty much all my friends.  We had great leaders and lots of fun.

This is a picture from a field trip to the local TV station.  I remember this trip being a lot more fun than the one we took for school some years later, but the best part about this picture is that Jenni and I are still friends, even after all these years. 🙂

Don’t forget to check out Charnele’s throwback post, and have a great weekend!

So it’s a Monday. . .

. . .and I needed a little cheering up because, well, you know – it’s a Monday.  Luckily, I found these waiting for me when I arrived home:

Don’t they look delicious?  I’m trying to be good and not eat them all but, well, I have no willpower.  I’ll be lucky if they’re still here come morning. 😀

I mean, really, who can resist the power of the Girl Scout cookies?  They’re like $3 boxes of crack, only addictive.  Well, more addictive.  You know what I mean.  Also, it’s late, I’m tired, I may have had one or two or ten of them by now, please to insert my usual litany of excuses here, thankyouverymuch.

And now I’m going to try to sleep off the yummy yummy cookies (that were not made with real Girl Scouts (please, dear God, tell me someone other than me gets that so that I don’t feel quite so silly)).  It was a long day at work today, but an okay kind of long for once, so hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.  Here’s hoping everyone else’s week is off to a great start!

Eight is great! Well, sort of…

Ah, eight.  Eight is great!  Two, four, six, eight, who do we appreciate?

Okay, that was kind of random.

First Communion cake – my decorating skills are improving!

For my kids, eight was a pretty great year.  Both of them participated in the ritual of First Communion at our church and were surrounded by family and friends as they celebrated the holy sacrament for the first time.  Tomcat was privileged to gain two new baby brothers within a month of each other during his eighth year, while Miss Tadpole spent her very first night away at Girl Scout camp.

Such a pretty smile!

Miss Tadpole attended Camp Tahigwa, the very same camp that I attended myself as an eight-year-old.  I was so excited; I had never been that far away from home before and the brochure made everything look super fun.  With Puppy by my side, I could face anything that camp threw my way. Or could I?
