2015-02-15 08.21.37Cricket is the family comedian.  He says such funny things, but he’s funniest when he’s being completely serious.

We’ve been enjoying the Music and Lyrics soundtrack in the car lately.  The boys always ask me the name of each song as it comes on, and sometimes they ask me another half dozen times throughout the course of the song.  Last night Cricket really wanted to hear the song “Tony the Beat,” but “A Different Sound” was playing, so he asked me which song was next:

Me: “Love Autopsy.”
Cricket: “What song is after that?”
M: “PoP! Goes My Heart.”
C: “And after that?”
M: “Buddha’s Delight.”
C: “And after that?”
M: “Meaningless Kiss.”
C: “And after that?”
M: “Entering Bootytown.”
C: “And after that?”
M: “Way Back Into Love.”

At this point, I fully expected him to ask what came after that (again), and since “Tony the Beat” was the next song, I thought maybe that would put an end to the questions (for a few minutes, anyway).  Instead, this happened:

C: *thinks for a minute*
C: “Entering Bootytown is the way back into love?”
M: *facepalm of epic proportions*

I told Seymour about it when we got home.  He’d had a long day of running errands, and this put a big ol’ smile on his face.  His response?  “From the mouths of babes…”

Kids. 🙂

Photo Friday: Besties

This picture isn’t quite as old as some of the others I’ve been posting, but after reading this comment on my scouting throwback post, I decided a post with Miss A. was in order. 🙂

besties

This one is from the summer of 2008, when Miss A. came back for a visit.  I don’t remember why, just that we had a great time seeing each other, as we always do.  It doesn’t matter how far apart we are, we’ll always be the best of friends. 🙂

Don’t forget to check out Charnele’s Photo Friday post! 🙂

Are these not the coolest things ever?

hpstamps

Seymour came home with some a week or so ago and when he showed them to me, I said he should have gotten a set to keep and a set to use.  He slid the book back in his hand to reveal a second book of stamps and replied, “Now what makes you think I’d do something like that?”

I love him so very, very much. 😀

A good decade ago (I refuse to admit that it’s been closer to two than one) when the post office issued Looney Tunes stamps, I had a whole set.  Unlike these, where each stamp is different, they released one character at a time.  It took a while to collect them all, but I love those stamps just as much as I love these.

And yes, I bought myself a set to use and a set to keep. 🙂

What are your favorite stamp designs?

Wasn’t it just gorgeous yesterday?  The springy beauty started early and lasted all day.  I had to go out yesterday afternoon, and happened to catch this:

flaggy

Flags fluttering in a light spring breeze, a vivid blue sky without a single cloud, the sun shining down – how can you beat that?  Makes a girl feel glad to be alive. 🙂

This morning I was treated to a beautifully foggy sunrise:

That’s the town a couple miles from my house.  Despite the fog, you can see pretty much the whole town in this picture.

I love how well this turned out!  Foggy mornings are just so inspiring. 🙂

It’s not much, but it took me all weekend:

Of course, that’s probably because we cleaned all day Saturday in advance of my in-laws visiting, and then it was off to a neighboring town for the Army Field Band concert, and then there was volleyball practice and a trip to the doctor and general recovery from the lack of sleep inflicted by Daylight Savings Time.

I’m ready to fall back now. No need to wait till October – let’s do it tonight! Who’s with me? 😀

We had a stunningly warm sunset the other night:

I couldn’t help pulling over on my way home to snap a picture.  The clouds came out a little blurry, but it was just too pretty to pass up. 🙂

Orange you glad it’s the weekend?

This week’s Daily Press Photo Challenge is all about the color orange.  The world is full of orange, and I can’t get enough of it (especially the color we had our living room painted in our last house – I think it was called Hearthstone or something like that – it was gorgeous and I could have painted every room in the house that color).  Since I’m such a sunset devotee, I decided to share some of my more orangey pictures (though a couple other things made their way in as well).

Don’t forget to check out some of the other orange posts, and have a great weekend! 🙂

I just can’t get enough of that beautiful blue sky.  It’s been so long since we’ve seen it this regularly, and I’m enjoying it as much as possible.

What about you?  Are you ready for winter to kiss us goodbye?

It’s another beautiful sunny day out there!

I just love that blue sky.  And compared to the temps we’ve had lately, it’s downright balmy out there this afternoon!

Happy Friday, everybody! 🙂
