Wasn’t it just gorgeous yesterday?  The springy beauty started early and lasted all day.  I had to go out yesterday afternoon, and happened to catch this:

flaggy

Flags fluttering in a light spring breeze, a vivid blue sky without a single cloud, the sun shining down – how can you beat that?  Makes a girl feel glad to be alive. 🙂

This morning I was treated to a beautifully foggy sunrise:

That’s the town a couple miles from my house.  Despite the fog, you can see pretty much the whole town in this picture.

I love how well this turned out!  Foggy mornings are just so inspiring. 🙂

It’s not much, but it took me all weekend:

Of course, that’s probably because we cleaned all day Saturday in advance of my in-laws visiting, and then it was off to a neighboring town for the Army Field Band concert, and then there was volleyball practice and a trip to the doctor and general recovery from the lack of sleep inflicted by Daylight Savings Time.

I’m ready to fall back now. No need to wait till October – let’s do it tonight! Who’s with me? 😀

I’m inspiring – Part IV

VeryInspiringBlogAwardThe very kind (and very talented!) Mark Nolan has nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.  This is the fourth time I’ve been nominated (the second time this year, even!), and while these sorts of things are always fun, I am fresh out of interesting things to say today.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to share one answer from each of my previous posts, which you can read in full here, here, and here:

1.  I’m ready to head somewhere warm and stay till spring.  Yesterday when I left for work, it was -11°F with a windchill of -27°F.  This morning, it was -13°F with a windchill of -38°F.  Our windows are horribly drafty and our heaters are on their last leg.  I am so over this winter. (from my third award)

2.   As a teenager…

We had a stunningly warm sunset the other night:

I couldn’t help pulling over on my way home to snap a picture.  The clouds came out a little blurry, but it was just too pretty to pass up. 🙂

Orange you glad it’s the weekend?

This week’s Daily Press Photo Challenge is all about the color orange.  The world is full of orange, and I can’t get enough of it (especially the color we had our living room painted in our last house – I think it was called Hearthstone or something like that – it was gorgeous and I could have painted every room in the house that color).  Since I’m such a sunset devotee, I decided to share some of my more orangey pictures (though a couple other things made their way in as well).

Don’t forget to check out some of the other orange posts, and have a great weekend! 🙂

I just can’t get enough of that beautiful blue sky.  It’s been so long since we’ve seen it this regularly, and I’m enjoying it as much as possible.

What about you?  Are you ready for winter to kiss us goodbye?

It’s another beautiful sunny day out there!

I just love that blue sky.  And compared to the temps we’ve had lately, it’s downright balmy out there this afternoon!

Happy Friday, everybody! 🙂

War!

Well, I’m feeling rather terrible at the moment.  A couple of weeks ago, the lovely Jim Webster asked me to join in a blog tour for the release of his new book, and I happily agreed to it.  But then life happened, and the post I meant to share on Sunday (or Monday) didn’t go up…

*sigh*

I hate messing up.

TS2 War 2-2So here’s that post, with my profound apologies for not sharing it sooner.

An action packed investigation, from Delta mud to the palaces of Merchant princes, Haldar is back in War 2.2

Haldar Drom is starting to worry. The long running insurgency in the Zala Delta suddenly starts to spiral further out of control. Who is arming the insurgents? How and why? Then a leading local politician who is using his influence to try and keep things calm is threatened with assassination. It’s obvious that things are moving to a climax.

All Haldar has immediately available is a third year university student who gets given a dissertation project she’ll never forget; young journalist who he convinces to investigate the situation of the ground; and a retired marine librarian whose job is to keep the politician alive. As the investigation proceeds, from the mud of the Delta to the luxurious surroundings of the Drake Islands, Haldar comes to realise that he may be facing Wayland Strang’s counter-attack. Faced with a coup d’état spearheaded by off-world mercenaries Haldar has to react quickly to stop a major war.

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?  Wanna sneak a peek?   Then read on!

Photo Friday: The good ol’ days

Today we revisit the summer of 2003, when I worked for the Reinbeck Courier with my bestest bud and was expecting a bubbly arrival:

raindance

Here we are, dancing in the street as the first rain we’d had in a good month or so fell freely from the sky.  It was a beautiful day, and unbeknownst to us (at the time), our boss was watching from the window, camera in hand.  This picture ran on the front page.  We laughed.

Man, I had a good time that summer.  It’s hard to beat doing a job you love with awesome people.

And nothing beats a good rain dance. 🙂

Don’t forget to check out Charnele’s throwback post! 🙂

Have you ever danced in the rain (literally, as above, or figuratively)?
