The very kind (and very talented!) Mark Nolan has nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. This is the fourth time I’ve been nominated (the second time this year, even!), and while these sorts of things are always fun, I am fresh out of interesting things to say today.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to share one answer from each of my previous posts, which you can read in full here, here, and here:
1. I’m ready to head somewhere warm and stay till spring. Yesterday when I left for work, it was -11°F with a windchill of -27°F. This morning, it was -13°F with a windchill of -38°F. Our windows are horribly drafty and our heaters are on their last leg. I am so over this winter. (from my third award)
2. As a teenager, I kept a notebook of names. There were three sections in it, each of which spanned the alphabet. One section was for male names, one was for female names, and one was for surnames. I started it so that if I needed a character name for a story project, I could just open it up and pick one. When I started having kids, I dug it back out and used it again. It’s a good thing I never had kids when I was in high school or I would have stuck them with some unusual and/or unpronounceable name, like Quathyrin or Annedji or B’Elanna or Deianara. Don’t get me wrong, I love the name B’Elanna (and I know one, too – my son’s cousin has that name) and I think it’s beautiful, but I’m glad I didn’t name my child after a Klingon – can you imagine the teasing? There were some pretty off-the-wall boy names, too, but I can’t remember any of them off the top of my head because as a teenager, I was convinced I would have daughters. Guess what, sixteen-year-old self? You got boys. You should have paid more attention to boy names. (from my second award)
3. I’m part of a book club, but have never attended a meeting. I’m actually embarrassed to admit that, but there are a couple of mitigating circumstances. I know, I know, it sounds totally lame, but I missed the first meeting, which was in November, because we had something holiday-related going on. I missed December’s meeting for the same reason. I was all excited for this month’s meeting because not only did I finally manage to get the book and even get it read in time for the meeting, but I was actually going to be able to go…and then Seymour was late getting home from work, so I still missed the meeting. *sigh* Here’s hoping it works out for next month, although at the rate I’m going, I think I’ll have to host the darn thing before I make it to one. (from my first award, and sadly, this is still true, though now it’s about a different book club)
As for the nominations, take it if you want it! It’s an open call. 🙂

I love the second one because I can so relate! I keep a little list of names for future characters though there’s no organization to them lol 🙂 Congrats to getting the award though! Yay!

Mine aren’t overly organized – they’re grouped alphabetically according to gender and surname, but within each letter page (a page for A, a page for B, etc.), there’s no organization. I just wrote them down as they came to me. 🙂
And thanks! 🙂

You’re welcome! And mine are just on one page (there’s not a lot) in the order they came to me so we are similar in that way 🙂
