Water

Today’s Photo 101 prompt involves water. I have lots of pictures of water – trying to choose just one was not easy!

But there was an added challenge for this post, and it involved orientation. Vertical or horizontal – which one’s better?

In this case, I like the vertical one best:

These are some old pictures; Bubbles was only three when these were taken. This was his first-ever fishing trip, and it spoiled him a little bit because he caught a fish just about every time he dropped his line in the water. They bit quickly, too – none of that waiting business that so often goes along with fishing.

If only every fishing trip could be like this one… ๐Ÿ™‚

Hibernation station

Holy buckets, is it cold out there! How cold is it?

It’s so cold that I passed a bunch of penguins on my way to work this morning. ๐Ÿ˜€

The worst part is that this is an improvement from the weekend. *sigh*

Meanwhile, I’m busy playing catch-up on pretty much everything after taking care of two sick kiddoes last week, so please excuse my probable absence here this week. In addition to catching up on stuff, I’m also in the midst of reading a fantastic new book. Have no fear – I’ll share my thoughts once I’m finished! It’s a book I’ve been looking forward to reading for some time now, so I suppose I’d better get back to it while I still have a few minutes to spare. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have a great day, everybody, and in case I don’t see ya, have a great rest of the week as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

Blargh

I’ve spent the weekend trying to kick a terrible cold to the curb. It doesn’t help that it’s been terribly cold outside as well. We had our first snow of the season on Friday, and I really could have done without it. The kitties seem to agree with me:

George is not amused. Mr. Fluffy demands a return to warmer times.

On the other hand, it was very pretty to look at from my blanket cocoon…

Have you encountered any of the vile whiteness yet? Are you ready for it?

Hay!

It was a busy weekend. ย We built a chicken coop and hung gutters and tried not to collapse in the heat. ย (I may have collapsed, but not from the heat.)

Still, despite all the busy-ness, I managed to take a few neat pictures of the hay in our newly-remodeled granary/rabbit house/cat house/chicken coop:

I only wish I could have taken more. ย There was a great view from the first floor, but by the time I grabbed my phone, we’d already strung up the chicken wire for the ceiling. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

How was your weekend?

For my final photo in this project, I’ve settled on another one of my many, many flower shots:

I can’t help it – I love shooting flowers. ย They’re so pretty, and in the right light, they positively sing. ย I mean, look at those colors! ย And the clarity of this image – I haven’t done a thing to it, other than transfer the image from my phone to my computer.

I love it when things turn out like this, and I’m glad I can end my photo-a-day project on such a stunning note. ๐Ÿ™‚

20150801_134933Despite the heat and humidity, the flowers around our house have been flourishing. ย Check out these beauties!

I’m not completely sure what kind of flower they are, but we have three different shades of them growing around our house, and they populate the local ditches as well. ย They’re gorgeous, and every time I see them, it puts a smile on my face.

What puts a smile on your face?
