It’s been a long week.

Thank God I didn’t give these up for Lent.

The sky was a lovely shade of blue this morning, and I couldn’t help taking pictures:

There’s nothing quite as thrilling as the sight of a bright blue sky after a long winter. 🙂

It’s particularly dreary outside today; the morning started off with freezing mist and a stiff wind, and it’s not expected to get any better as the day wears on. With that in mind, I’ve got a spot of sunshine to share:

My coworker received these lovely tulips last week, and they’ve really brightened up the office. There were some purplish ones, too, that are also very pretty. 🙂
How do you cheer yourself up in the middle of winter’s drear?

My cats like to swarm when we leave the house. I think they’re laboring under the impression that if they swarm us enough times, we’ll give in to their demands to be let inside permanently, and if Seymour weren’t so horribly allergic, maybe we would.
They don’t play fair – there’s nothing more tempting than an adorable kitty cat. But I stayed strong in the face of such manipulation. They won’t stay mad at me for long, right? 😀

Here’s another picture from yesterday’s frigid excursion:

It looks like someone spent all night gluing glitter to my trees. It’s awesome. 🙂

I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find I’d awoken in a winter wonderland. Forced to brave the subzero cold, I at least had the pleasure of watching the snow sparkle in the sunlight as it clung to the trees:

I may grouse about winter an awful lot, but I can’t imagine a prettier sight than this after all the gray days we’ve had of late. 🙂

A Song for All Seasons, my latest poetry book, is now available for pre-order at Amazon and Smashwords!

A Song for All Seasons is my second poetry book and features poems on the beauty of the world around me, as well as a few musings on life, love, and everything in between. A print version is also in the works, and I’ve set March 13 for the release day.
I’m pretty excited, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading these poems as much as I enjoy writing them. 🙂

In honor of Bubbles’ well-received mention of Hoth, here’s a picture of him all dressed up for Halloween:

He’s four in this picture, and it was actually taken at Christmas – his grandma made him the costume as a Christmas gift and he wore it the following Halloween. He was so excited; he couldn’t wait to go trick-or-treating as Luke-from-the-third-movie-when-he’s-all-in-black-and-has-the-green-light-saber. 🙂
Over the years, Bubbles has become interested in many other awesome things, but he’s a Star Wars fan first and foremost, and I don’t see that ever changing. Yay! 🙂
Don’t forget to check out Charnele’s throwback post – it’s de-lovely. 🙂

A gorgeous sunset capped off a gorgeous day yesterday:

The colors in the sky were almost as pretty as the colors the fading sun cast out on the snow. 🙂
