I’ve been hard at work on Remnants again lately for Camp Nano. I have a small word count goal – just 5,000 words, give or take – and I have no idea how close I am to hitting it. But I inadvertantly skipped over a major portion of the story during a writing spree a few months ago, and now I have to go back and fix it, so if I can at least get that accomplished, then I’ll consider camp a success.
Meanwhile, here’s a little taste of what all that fixing has wrought:
He closed his eyes and exhaled slowly, his suspicions confirmed. But this was not the time for that; whatever problems they might have could be dealt with later, once the Briants were safely home and Eridani was married to Maru Doon. Still, a strange tingling sensation filled his chest, tears stung his eyes, and all his determination could not subdue his feelings.
I was pretty happy with that. Thoughts? Leave ’em in the comments – good, bad, and ugly!
This whole going-back-to-fix-a-part-I-left-out business has been a major challenge for me. I’m a linear writer, so writing this story out of order is difficult. I’m really looking forward to having this all behind me so that I can continue moving the story forward.
Camping trip number three begins today, and I am really hoping to have more fun this time around than we did the last trip. Dear camping gods, please let everyone (and everything) come home safe and sound! 🙂
I know I’ve been a bit of an absentee blogger (and Facebooker and tweeter) lately, but between camping, family emergencies, my new job, and my health scare, I’ve had all I can handle and my online life has paid the price. I am so, so thankful for all the kind comments and support I’ve received from my last post; it really means the world to me. I hope to get back to a more regular schedule after we get back from this trip. Our crazy hectic schedule will settle down for a while then and I’ll have a little room to breathe and catch up on things. Yay! 🙂
So, until next time, have a great rest of the week, some fun in the sun, and a rockin’ good weekend!

I’ve given up trying Camp Nano. I always sign up and then fail at my word count. So I hope you’re having fun when you go on vacation there! May your word count rise!!!

Thanks! This is my first time doing Camp Nano, though I’ve done the regular version a few times (usually with the same results). I figure since I have such a small goal, it should be doable? 😀
Are you working on anything at the moment, without all the Nano distractions?

I definitely am. I do better without the idea that I have to reach a word count in order to succeed. I’m very rebellious, even to my own writing detriment!

I don’t usually care about word count when I write, but I feel like I’ve kind of stalled out on my writing lately, mainly because I just don’t have the time to write like I want to. I usually write at lunch, but it’s just not enough! 🙂 So this is kind of a nice motivator to get it done.
