If you had been in my car last night, you’d have heard the following conversation between Cricket and me. It was just too cute not to share.
C: “Mommy, are the trees mad?”
M: “No, the trees aren’t mad. Why?”
C: *very earnestly* “Because they are. They are mad, Mom. Because I speak for the trees.”
M: “You speak for the trees?”
C: *very somberly* “I do, Mom. I do.”
I hate to think how many times he watched (or read) The Lorax yesterday for that to spontaneously come out last night – once he starts with something, he wants it endlessly (I am seriously sick of Scooby Doo at this point). Still, I’m glad he liked it – The Lorax is one of my favorite Dr. Seuss stories. 🙂

Never seen Dr Seuss, but don’t diss Scooby or I’ll be coming for ya.

It’s not that I dislike Scooby – I love that crazy mutt, actually – but we have the entire series and I’ve seen it so many times that I can recite the episodes from memory. I’ve had my fill of Scooby for a while.

I may have groaned on about this before but did you know that every single episode ever made has the same plot?

Yep. Just swap out the villains and the locations, and everything else stays the same, right down to “those meddling kids.” 🙂

A little like nursery food. Something to sink into and relax, especially after the chancellor has been speaking on the news.

Mmm. And speaking of relaxing, a nice cup of tea would be just the thing, I think… 🙂

Yorkshire tea, naturally.

I still need to try that. In the meantime, I’ve still got some Tetley tea in the pantry.

Tetley – revolting muck!
In my humble opinion.

I like it. And it’s got Lipton beat with a stick. Twinings is good, too.
Having said what I did about Lipton, they do sell a decent ready-made iced tea. But otherwise, meh.

Once more, in my humblest of opinions. Lipton, yuck. Twining – yuck mark2. Because you’re so far away these tea companies farm out the most revolting guck your way. I wouldn’t stand for it.

I have some lovely German tea. It’s quite good with milk and kluntje.
Your assessment of Lipton is quite correct, though. I used to like it, but then I grew tastebuds.

The Germans think us brits are savages for drinking tea with milk, but what do they know?

Your guess is as good as mine. I grew up drinking it with milk. Apparently there’s a tradition full of symbolism that has to do with the tea, cream, and sugar, but we never had cream, and as far as I can tell – having tried it both ways – milk tastes just as good.

My beloved drinks it with evaporated milk. I’d rather have it with vinegar after tasting hers just the once.

Evaporated milk? Ick! It’s a drink, not a casserole!

That’s just too sweet! Thank you for sharing with us! I write a blog that has stories like this for my kids! We adopted six boys and we are a multi-cultural family, so the conversations we have know no bounds! 😉

Wow! We have four kids, so I kind of know what you mean. When our youngest was born, I still wanted one or two more, but I just wasn’t able to do it, which still makes me sad. On the other hand, now that the youngest ones are ready for potty training, I’m looking forward to being done with diapers again. 🙂
One of my friends keeps a Tumblr with funny stories of her daughter, and I’ve been thinking of doing something similar. I’ve always been in the habit of writing down the adorable things they say, and it would be nice to have a place to keep them. How close together in age are your kids?

He loves books of all kinds, whether they’re his or not. His brother, Thumper, got a book for his birthday in August, and the first thing Cricket did was proclaim it his. 🙂
And thanks! That’s his new hat that he got from Santa (Grandma). You squeeze the left dangly purple bit and the hand/ear things up top flap up and down. Thumper got one, too. They are the cutest hats I’ve ever seen. 😀

Mwah ha ha hargh! The hats sound brilliant.
I’m- actually, I’m a little bit jealous! Phark.
