Today was a beautiful, glorious day, the kind of day that makes you feel glad to be alive.
As I was wandering my yard this afternoon, I happened upon these beauties. I suspect these are the last tomatoes we’ll see this year (in our garden, anyway), but there are still a few apples clinging to a half-dead tree in the yard.
I love fall. 🙂

Thank you! Those apples were just as pretty in person. I love the way colors pop on bright, sunny days. 🙂

Real fruit? Ours comes mostly from France. I can’t remember the last time I saw any growing.

Indeed! Our acreage came with two and a half apple trees, several mulberry trees, a whole fenceline of raspberry bushes, and a rhubarb patch, plus we planted tomatoes this spring. I want to plant some pear trees and maybe a couple of cherry trees, too, someday. Fresh fruit (or home-canned) just can’t be beat. 🙂

I dispensed with my fruit trees back in the days I had a garden. They just brought in a multitude of insects who all zeroed in on my daughter.

We haven’t had a whole lot of trouble with insects, so I’m optimistic. Unless we buy bananas – they draw gnats like crazy.
Of course, planting new fruit trees requires me to keep them alive somehow, and I’m not sure I’m ready for that, what with my black thumb and all. Maybe I should rethink this plan…

No, plant them but don’t expect too much in the way of fruit for a couple of yeas; or in my case decades.

The only plant I’ve managed not to kill is the philodendron that Seymour bought me a few years. They’re apparently impossible to kill, or at least very, very hardy.

Let me at it.
