I’m feeling a little less than inspired today, so here are some of my favorite things:
- Fall leaves.
- Crisp autumn nights cheering on my team.
- Old cartoons.
- Happy kitties.
- Books I can get lost in.
- Visits from old friends.
- The sound of the corn dryers near my childhood home.
- Office supply stores.
- Silly puns.
- Bad jokes.
If you made a list of some of your favorite things, what would be on it?

Actually, your list looks pretty good. Except I don’t know what a corn dryer is, so maybe I’d substitute the sound of the fishing boats coming in.

Thanks! 🙂
I live in farm country, and I grew up next to a Pioneer seed corn plant. The sound of grain dryers doing their thingaways makes me feel at home, even as they remind me of the passing of time. It’s a sound that’s all tangled up with childhood and dreams and a million other things. Listening to grain dryers is like listening to a favorite song, a song that’s so familiar you can’t remember a time when you didn’t know it.
Is it the same with you and fishing boats?

Yes, I grew up in a fishing town. I love hearing them go out, and I love hearing them come back in.
