Movin’ right along!

Guess who just finished the first chapter of her newest WIP?  That’s right!  Given that I’ve only been writing (not plotting) for what – a week? – and the fact that I don’t have a whole lot of free time in which to write, I’m pretty proud of myself.  I can’t wait to see how everything is going to turn out. 🙂

I’m pretty excited about the story right now, so go for it I shall. Once it’s finished and I’m on my hundredth revision, I’ll probably be less excited and more inclined to chuck it against a wall, but I’ve got a ways to go till then. 😉

I’ve got one on my middle finger from where my pencil rests. Lord only knows how long I’ve had it. I’ll probably have it till I’m food for worms. And yet, I don’t mind in the least – I never have to turn off the wi-fi on my spiral-bound notebook.

You can get rid of them by rubbing them with pumice but you just have to form new ones by writing so it’s not really worth the bother, or the pain.

On the bright side, with fingers as tough as that you could be a great martial artist. But then you’d really have to be careful if your computer upset you.

Alas, they’re less cheap if your computing on a laptop. I’ve replaced laptop keyboards before with much grumbling and swearing and gnashing of teeth. If I had to do it again, it might be worse as my keyboard now is backlit and I imagine that makes them even more expensive.

On the other hand, if I break a pencil, I just have to run down to the store and buy a new one. And pray Pentel never stops making the Quicker Clicker (my preferred mechanical pencil).

Why don’t you just plug in a normal keyboard into the back of the laptop? Then if it bugs you, you can just tear it off and stamp on it – or is that just me?

I have an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor set up at my desk the I occasionally plug into my laptop, but I hardly ever sit at my desk to use my computer. When I do sit there to use my computer, the bigger screen and full-size keyboard are great. I just don’t use them all that much.

It’s funny, for two years I moaned because I wanted a desk so I would have a place to write. I finally got a nice, big desk and what do I use it for? A glorified storage shed. I have the thing stuffed to the brim with stories and paperwork and gadgets, but I’m more comfortable sitting in a recliner to write, whether it’s on my computer or on paper. Go figure. 😀

I’m the opposite. I have a laptop that I just can’t use. If I’m escaping my wife’s soaps I flee upstairs so I just end up using my big machine.
