Once again, Mama Monkey from the Monkey’s Jungle has nominated me for an award. And since I’m short on bloggy inspiration at the moment, this seemed like a great time to share the fun. 🙂

This time, it’s the Versatile Blogger Award! I received this one the first time a few years back, so today I’ve got some new tidbits to share. But first, ze rules:

Seven things you may or may not have known about me:

  1. I am a recent convert to the Cult of the Egg Nog Worshippers. While I don’t go as gaga for it as my kids do, I’ve at last decided that it’s pretty okay.
  2. I love to play Balderdash. I don’t think I’ve ever won a game, but I sure do have fun with it. And it’s a great way to generate story ideas. 😉
  3. Charlie Brown Christmas stamps make me happy. Using them to mail bills, though? Not so much. For that I need my…

liebsterYes, it’s another award post.  Apparently, ’tis the season.  This time, I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award by Fantasy Angel of the Avid Reader Blog.  I get to answer eleven questions about myself before asking eleven more of my nominees.  Fun, huh?

I think I’m a lot like Hermione Granger.  We’re both bookish, and I always feel like I don’t quite fit in, which Hermione definitely didn’t at the start of the series.

Mark Nolan has nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.  This is the fourth time I’ve been nominated (the second time this year, even!), and while these sorts of things are always fun, I am fresh out of interesting things to say today.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to share one answer from each of my previous posts, which you can read in full here, here, and here:

1.  I’m ready to head somewhere warm and stay till spring.  Yesterday when I left for work, it was -11°F with a windchill of -27°F.  This morning, it was -13°F with a windchill of -38°F.  Our windows are horribly drafty and our heaters are on their last leg.  I am so over this winter. (from my third award)

VeryInspiringBlogAwardSeveral days ago, I was nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by the lovely and talented Katrina Jack.  This isn’t the first time I’ve been nominated for this particular award (you can read those posts here and here, and a list of my other blog award posts is here), but I’m just as flattered now as I was then. 🙂

I’m sure you all know how these things work – you thank your nominator, you share seven things about yourself, you nominate others.  I thanked Kate for the nomination in her post, but I’d like to give her another shout-out: There’s a list of books on Goodreads that are Hugo-eligible this year, and Kate’s book Land of Midnight Days is currently at number 6.  It’d be great if you’d hop over and vote for her – she’s a wonderful author and a fantastic friend, and she deserves all the recognition she can get. 🙂

And now, without further ado, the rest of it:

1.  In just over three weeks, I will be the same age my mom was when she died.  As my 31st birthday draws nearer, I find myself becoming more morbid.  This, of course, is a continuing trend, because my 30th year has been rather morbid in and of itself.  And come this time next year, I plan to have one hell of a party, assuming I survive 2015.

super-sweet-blogging-award1What a whirlwind this month has been so far!  I can’t believe it’s already the halfway point of January.

Of course, this means that I’ll be 30 before I know it.  That’s right, the big day is at the end of the month.  It’ll be an interesting one this year, for a bunch of reasons, and I’ll be glad to kiss the big 3-0 goodbye next year (for other reasons).

Here’s hoping 30 (and 31) are better for me than they were for my mom.  This is something that is going to weigh heavily on my mind for a long time.  I may even try to explain it at some point.

But not right now.  That’s not supposed to be the point of this post.  The point of this post is that holy cow, I can’t believe January’s half gone.  Yep.  That’s it.  That’s the point.

Okay, no it’s not.

super-sweet-blogging-award1A while back, I opened WordPress to look at a new comment I’d received and, lo and behold, the comment was to let me know that I’d been nominated for the Super Sweet Blog Award!  I found the timing quite hilarious as I’d just read another comment on a forum where someone described me as “…very sweet natured, but…she has a darker side!”  Apparently, I’m chocolate. 😀

Hiya!  I know it’s been a few days, but after all those haiku I posted last month, I needed a bit of a break.  Also, I’ve been fighting off a migraine for the last few days, so my time doing much of anything productive has been pretty limited.  But now I’m back, more exhausted than ever, and ready to…uh…well, maybe not wow you, exactly, but hopefully keep you entertained with my stunning ability to trip over flat surfaces.

That should do nicely, yes?

No?  What do you mean, no?

What do you mean, you want substance?  Why on Earth are you here, then?  Wait!  Don’t leave me!

Okay, that was a little pathetic.  Well, if it’s substance you want instead of slapstick, how about this?  I was nominated for the Liebster Award earlier today by the lovely G. Edward Smith.  He’s got a very nice blog and it’s well worth checking out.
