Since Bubbles was gone last weekend, we let him have a few friends over last night to help him celebrate his birthday. They had a blast playing football in the yard, staying up late watching movies, and generally eating us out of house and home.

“Let’s tell ghost stories!”
But I have to admit I felt a little bad for Cricket. He adores his big brother, and he wants nothing more than to hang out with the big boys. But Bubbles needs time away from being the big brother now and then, and there’s no explaining that to a four-year-old.
Something tells me this is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

I think they definitely felt grown up Saturday night – they stayed up till 2:30 a.m. and then had to get up for church and football the next morning. 🙂

Yep. But they won their game, which was great, and when Bubbles finally got to play, he did really well, which was exciting. 🙂

There’s this saying that goes something like
“You will only discover good after first, discovering the bad”.
A line which I totally agree with in the sense that we’ll only know what to compare our experiences with after going through something.
“You will never know hate if you’ve never learned love” vice versa.
My thoughts, knowing that Cricket loves his big brother so much, chances are, big brother would feel that love in time and I believe that even if things gets worse in the near future, it’ll get a whole lot better in the late future.
I sincerely hope it will!

Oh, I’m sure they’ll be close one day. But convincing a stubborn four-year-old that his big brother is not at his beck and call is a challenge, to say the least. Don’t get me wrong – I’m glad they all get along so well – but Bubbles is seven years older than Cricket, and I’m sure having his baby brother tag along all the time is frustrating, to say the least. He handles it remarkably well, though – he’s a pretty terrific big brother.
