Bubbles has to be at his football games an hour early to practice beforehand. If I was attending by myself, it would be a great time to get some reading done, or some writing, or even that strange new thing the kids these days call socializing. You know, actually interacting with other actual people.
But I don’t get to do that. I go everywhere accompanied by kids – sometimes two, sometimes three, sometimes four. And while I was waiting for Bubbles’ game to start Sunday afternoon, Cricket and Miss Tadpole had fun entertaining each other, which was lots of fun to watch (more fun than the game, even, since I’m clueless when it comes to football).

I kind of remember socialising but these days it’s so hard to get people attention away from their iPhones that |i don’t even bother.

Heck, that’s the only way I get any socializing done these days. Well, that and through my computer. Between commuting to work and driving my kids around to things, I hardly have time to get anything done around the house. And after all that, I don’t have the energy to bribe someone to watch my kids so that I can escape them for a little while every so often. 🙂
I’m told that, one of these days, this will improve. Unless I can figure out a way to mainline caffeine, I’m not sure how. 😀

The other day I stopped at a convenience store for a bit of breakfast and the manager (whom I’ve known for a little over a decade) asked how I was doing. I told her I was tired, and she said, “You’re always tired! Why are you always so tired?”
I told her I had four kids. The cashier ringing up my purchases said, “And that stops the conversation right there.” They both agreed that four kids was a perfectly good reason for being tired all the time.
As I was leaving, I said, “You know, someday, they’re all gonna leave. And then I won’t know what to do with myself.” I will actually know what to do with myself, but I’m not sure about the prospect of actually having the time to do all the things I want to do. 🙂

Oh, I will. Last night I had to help Bubbles with his math homework. At the end of it all, I wasn’t sure if I wanted a huge hug or a drink – we got through it together, but it, like anything else in life, was painful in places. 🙂
