Thanks! It was not what I’d expected, but I spent time with my family and my in-laws, so it was nice. I did not get a new kitty, but since we have four already, I suppose another is too much to ask. 🙂

Or maybe not – apparently the four we have need to do a better job earning their keep.

I guess spending time with the people you love is a good a way as any Kay. Four cats eh? They probably believe the other ones are doing all the work. 🙂 I had a cat, who lived for 18 years, He was a champion mouser, brought live snakes home as presents and generally made himself useful.

We had a wonderful cat last summer, named Mrs. Calico. She was a fabulous mama kitty and a terrific mouser, and then someone ran her over. *sigh* We still miss her.

One of our kittens, Opal, was apparently paying attention to Calico’s hunting lessons, though, because Opal’s becoming quite the bird killer. Now if only she’d turn her attention to the mice… 😀

There’s nothing worse than having a pet run over. Mine has been gone since 2003 and I still ‘see’ him around now and then. if you want your cat to stop catching birds put a collar on it with a bell attached. It will give the mice a sporting chance too. 🙂

I don’t mind them catching the birds, but I do wish they’d spend more time working on the mouse population. They’re outside cats, so a collar and bell would be more of a risk than I want to subject them to.

The first cat I ever owned was run over in the spring of 2003, right after she’d had a litter of kittens. She was the best cat I’d ever had, until Mrs. Calico came along. I still miss her.

Perhaps a quick course on mouse identification and another look at their job description might help. 😉
That would be hard losing mama cat.
