You know – election day. That wonderful day when you get to help elect our nation’s next leaders. Here’s to actually accomplishing something other than dividing our country even further.
But better yet, here’s to the end of campaign advertising (for a little while, anyway)! 🙂
If you live in the good ol’ U.S. of A., did you vote? Why or why not?

You bet, I voted. This country has given me great opportunities, even when I didn’t always take advantage of them–I owe the country and its people my attention in return.

I agree. Were you happy with the results?

It would have been impossible for me to be happy with the results–much as I despise Hillary Clinton, I didn’t like either candidate. This was the most extreme ever example of voting for the person you hate least.
Overall I was happy with our state and local results, though, so there’s that.

I know how you feel. What really aggravates me about politics in recent years is that it’s become a contest between the lesser of two evils. I used to get excited about politics and current events, but it’s hard to get excited about politics when, election after election, I have to choose between the lesser of two evils instead of between two equally-qualified leaders. This election in particular, as well as current events in general, was a joke. And not a very funny one.

I did. It took a while, but I continued my streak of voting for virtually no one who won.

I don’t have a streak like that, but my guy didn’t win, either. What did you think of the results?

I was surprised. You?

Very. My husband was, too. Neither of us were big fans of Hillary, but we aren’t big fans of Trump, either. The thing that upsets me most, though, is all the division and hate that this election has stirred up. Just because we might disagree doesn’t mean we can’t still be friends, and it makes my heart hurt to see so many friends and families divided over politics. 😥
